Congratulations to the 2025 Deep Run Marching Wildcats ~ SUPERIOR rating at VBODA Assessment, 3rd Overall and Best Color Guard at VMBC Championships!
Registration for the 2026 Marching Band season is now open and closes on Friday, June 12, 2026!
The Deep Run Marching Wildcats will be performing their 2025 show, Desperado, at Deep Run High School football games and multiple competitions. Desperado is a modern take on the traditional idea of a western show. This show is based off the famous quote by Nelson Mandela “When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw.” The highlight of the show is an arrangement of the classic song "House of the Rising Sun".
The 2025 Marching Wildcats is led by Band Director, James Pennington, and is made up of 47 marchers.

Become a Marching Wildcat
You can see the band perform every fall at a variety of local competitions and at every home and away football game. An integral part of the fall football game experience, the Deep Run Marching Wildcats entertain fans throughout the show with fight songs, cheers, and drum line solos with the cheerleaders and dance team.

Marching Band Members receive a 1/2 honors credit for the fall semester.

The Marching Band kicks off the season with two Jump Start sessions in the spring before school is out. The band then has multiple 4-hour clinics on most Tuesdays in the early summer. Band Camp starts the end of July and lasts two weeks 8 AM -6 PM at Deep Run. Finally, min-band camp occurs the final week of summer break before school starts. There are evening rehearsals Tuesday-Thursday until 7:00 PM each week after school except when there is a football game on Thursday night. Fridays are reserved for football nights. There are one or two Saturday rehearsals in anticipation of competitions.

Band members pay fees to help cover costs of uniforms, instruments, transportation, and instruction. The Band Boosters run various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money and work to keep the band fees as low as possible. Recent fundraisers include Football Fundraising efforts, yearly BandBlast, Winter Raffle, Winter and Spring Band and Orchestra Concert flower sales and 50/50 Raffles, and summer car washes. In addtion, the Band Boosters are always looking for Sponsorships to help defray costs increase the Scholarship pool.
