Since its beginning in 2002, the Deep Run Bands has built an extraordinary track record of awards and performance excellence.
The Wildcat Band has been designated a Virginia Honor Band every year since 2004 by Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA). Virginia Honor Band is awarded to a band program for achieving a Superior Rating for both the marching band and advanced concert band at their respective state band festivals. Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) has recognized Deep Run High School as a Blue Ribbon School yearly since 2006 for the school's outstanding choral, band, and strings programs. As of 2017, Deep Run High School held Virginia's longest current streak as a Blue Ribbon Music School.
